Since the release of the seventh generation of the new 3 Series, performance enthusiasts from all over the world are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new M3. We have to wait a little longer, but at least we have something that will ease our waiting.
The new M340i stands before us and this is the most powerful 3 Series without M3 series ever developed by BMW. The introduction of the car will be at the Los Angeles Motor Show towards the end of this month. However, the Bavarian company is quite eager to explain all the technical details of the model before the fair.
At the heart of the car lies a 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged six-cylinder engine producing 382 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. This means more power and torque than the last two models of the M3.
BMW says that the New M340i xDrive will only require 4.2 seconds to accelerate 100 km/h, even if the full performance details are not yet announced. As a typical feature of German cars, the maximum speed of the model will be fixed at 250 km/h. The car’s power will be sent to the rear wheels via the eight-speed Sport Steptronic transmission (multiple on all wheels in xDrive). The body of the vehicle with a weight distribution of 50:50 will be 25 percent harder.
The price of the model has not been announced yet, but the BMW M340i and M340i xDrive plans to put the price tag in Los Angeles on November 28.
